2001 Tayana 55

Greenport, New York

$447,000

Dragon Dance is being sold by the original owner.

Outstanding custom feature: engine (1100hrs) and generator (195hrs) were only in salt water for the hours they were running!   A valve above sea water intake switches to the galley sink drain. Fill the sink and turn the valve so the freshwater flush begins.

Accommodates a family or couple.  Private and semi-private cabins.  Excellent galley underway.  Easy access to the engine room.  Easy to sail ketch rig and in-boom furling.  Great visibility for easy docking with bow thruster.
Reliable anchoring with upgraded windlass, 110 lb Bruce, custom chain brake and snubber. Deck saloon brings natural light everywhere. Interior is stunning.

Since its introduction, the Tayana 55 has emerged as a favored design for liveaboard and offshore cruising among couples and families. Renowned for its strength, comfort, expansive living spaces, and commendable performance, the Tayana 55 has earned a solid reputation. The interior joiner work on this yacht is legendary, and its sailing characteristics are highly respectable. With a four-cabin layout, it is ideal for cruising couples with children or guests.

This boat is ICW friendly.

Surveyor comments:  … this boat has been kept In immaculate condition. I see additions like custom built-in tool holders.  Additional extra mooring pendants in the boat, in case of chafe or wear so they are available immediately for replacement.  4 extra anchors, All well stored and ready for deployment. All was prepared by the owner. The owner seems to be a capable yachtsman, not just an owner.

Owner's Comments

She was built for 2 different lifestyles... 1)  As a blue water yacht, she is built solid. The ketch rig and in-boom furling allow one person on deck to reef and tack easily. The centerboard down has a 10' draft to minimize drag on a long run. Yankee head sail allows great visibility ahead.

  2) In port with centerboard up, the 5'9" shoal draft gets you into inlets, harbors, bays, and backwaters off limits to most yachts.  She is ICW-friendly with a 64' mast.  Mooring and anchoring in great comfort anywhere.  Boomkin offers easy boarding from dinghy, diving, and swimming.    Whatever you are ready for, so is she.  Our 3 granddaughters ran and sailed this yacht by themselves as we relaxed.  Tayana overbuilt everything.  She sails like a dream.
