Karaya, a 1995 Island Packet 40 is a modern cruiser - rugged and safe.  With her improved hull, keel, rudder shape and Cutter Rig, she performs well and is very comfortable in all kinds of conditions.  Her fiberglass hull features integral full foil keel and bow sprit that combined with a large spade rudder tracks and maneuvers well without sacrificing performance.  When the wind lays down, she is pushed by a 50HP, freshwater cooled, 4 cylinder Yanmar Diesel. "Karaya", a 1995 Island Packet 40 is a Bob Johnson designed cruising yacht with a good sized beam allowing for two staterooms and two heads with lots of storage space and plenty of elbow room. Karaya Walkthrough Starting at the bow is the Owner's Stateroom with a Private Ensuite Head featuring a shower with seat & curtain, commode, sink and lots of storage. The Head is well ventilated with an opening hatch and 4 opening ports.  Moving aft into the Owner’s sleeping area is a large pullman berth on starboard with 6 drawers under and combined with a gigantic port side hanging locker and a bank of 3 bins with drop-down doors maximizes storage. This private berth is also well lit and ventilated with a large opening hatch, 3 opening ports, a 12V fan and LED lights. The Main Saloon is aft with a bulkhead mounted table that seats 7 and folds up out of the way when not in use.  A large convertible settee/double berth on starboard and a straight settee across on port are perfect for additional seating, entertaining and napping.  There is additional storage under and behind the settees as well as shelves and cabinets above.  A large opening hatch and 4 opening ports plus 12V fan and LED lights make this area light and airy. Next, on starboard is the aft-facing Nav Station with Electric Panel and Navigation Repeaters within easy reach. The Desk is large enough for chartwork and there is space for your navigation tools. The large "U" shaped Galley is aft on starboard featuring a double sink with faucet, hand-held sprayer,  manual cold water handpump, and a large refrigerator/freezer.  There is lots of storage with custom spice rack, dish and cup holders, utensil drawers, two large cabinets and an under the counter dry storage bin.  The Galley stays cool & bright with an opening hatch, 2 opening ports, 12V fan and LED lights with an extra, custom LED light over the Sink.  Across on port is the Day Head with separate Aft Cabin and Saloon entrances.  It has a shower with Seat, Sink, Commode and full length Teak Mirror. An Opening Hatch and Port maintain comfort.  The Quarter Berth is aft of the Galley with a large dressing area including a big Hanging Locker and bank of 2 bins with drop-down doors at the entry. It also is light and airy with an opening hatch, 2 opening ports, 12V Fan and LED Lights.  A cleverly hung net holds additional "stuff”. Next, centered between the Galley and Day Head is the Companionway with the insulated engine compartment under.  And, Removing the Quarterberth cushions exposes the full drive train which along with an LED light over the engine makes engine maintenance easier. The Cockpit is safe, comfortable, and large enough for sailing, entertaining and napping.  Cockpit Cushions, Dodger, Bimini, Connecting Panel and full enclosure with side screens and clear vinyl panels and sunshades protect the crew in all kinds of weather.
