Liberty Yachts is the result of a collaboration with Joe Corvelli and Charlie Jannace. Joe was a graduate of the Webb Institute, among the most exclusive naval architecture and marine engineering schools in the world. With Charlie Jannices design input the result is an exceptional sea boat with excellent fuel economy and an unsurpassed ride. On close inspection it is apparent that the quality and innovation from this builder stacks up well against anyone out there. "LIDDA" was built to the specifications of her current and original owners with an emphasis on cruising comfort and elegant simplicity. The first Liberty 42 built with the forward cabin window which then became standard on all future builds. She has been only lightly fished and cruised the waters from Key West to Bar Harbor!

The boat was designed to be light for her size at 22,000 lbs. due to advanced composite construction, simple design and extensive use of cored materials in the interior joinery and furniture construction. Even the Granite galley counters are cored. Some top speed capability was sacrificed in lieu of greater efficiency and responsiveness in the cruising ranges. As a result she cruises at 24 knots with top speed of 32 knots. She idles around 6 knots and in trolling mode with one engine, down around 3 knots for trolling. 

Many experienced watermen claim she delivers the best ride on the water for her size. The mid-range speed, combined with a full 20-degree transom deadrise, sharp entry of 59 degrees, generous chines and numerous running strakes result in the exceptionally soft dry ride. Not surprisingly akin to the Bertram and Blackfin ride.

The builder seeks a more moderate speed that can be utilized in a broad range of conditions while using comparatively little fuel. To achieve this "LIDDA" selected CAT C12 705hp  diesels with Glendenning electronic controls. To reduce cabin noise, the builder utilizes generous Soundown insulation in the engine compartments and mounts pumps on the outer bulkheads and the generator on the aft bulkhead. 

This Liberty sports a very traditional look, reminiscent of the Bertram 31 with the engine boxes extending out into the cockpit. This results in a lower vertical center of gravity by lowering the bridge and cabin. Plus access to the cockpit from the bridge is a cinch  with a mere three steps down compared to a tall flybridge ladder. The motorboxes also improve service access to all sides while eliminating a crouched tight engine room.
Couple the CAT C-12's, this 42 gets up and goes quite nicely. The result provides a very quiet and efficient power package.  The wide beam-to-length ratio successfully counterbalances the deep-V deadrise (20 degrees) at the transom to make drifting comfortable, stable and balanced in a beam sea. Running at cruising speed in a 4-foot sea you'll expect a steady dry ride.

"LIDDA's" interior is simple yet elegant reflecting the highest level of quality joinery, fit and finish.  In the bow is a modified queen berth with lift assisting rams accessing huge storage space.  Surprising storage exists under every seat, step and floorboard supporting extended cruising. Headroom throughout is generous accommodating  tall occupants handily and lending a sense of spaciousness. The U-shaped dinette settee to starboard, swiveling barrel chairs to port and well-equipped galley are functional for escaping the weather as well as extended cruising for a couple. The large TV on electric lift and viewable from numerous locations.The interior is finished in solid teak, cored in some cases with a durable yet handsome finish.
The head stands to starboard with a handsome, separate curved shower stall. The head  has an opening window for natural light and ventilation. The galley features hi-end appliances and lots of counter surface and storage.

The hull boasts a solid bottom, vacuum-bagged topsides cored with Core Cell, decks with Diviny cell and all-vinyl ester resins. Deck joints receive four layers of glass. Every bulkhead is typically taped in with more glass tape than there is in the bulkhead itself. Every visible (and many invisible) surfaces are Awl gripped. The Liberty lacks any holes in the side of the hull. No air vents, tank fills, plumbing exhausts - anything. All drains lead to two small tail pipes inboard of the engine exhaust pipes. Air-conditioning, hatch gutters, livewell overflow - everything drains there. Custom fabrication creates a plug that allows the transducer to be mounted flush with the bottom of the hull.

The cockpit sports a beautiful solid-teak cap rail & coming in natural finish, huge fish boxes, engine vents under the covering boards, and storage for rods, gaffs and mops in cabinets under the gunwales. The generator is located at the transom in the lazarette to keep the noise away from the cabin, the compartment is well designed with a waterproof gasket to prevent any water intrusion from the cockpit deck. The hull is quite unique in that not a single hole exists in the hull sides. All drains lead to manifold boxes that discharge from the transom.

Two Stidd pedestal chairs anchor the seating on the bridge for the skipper and mate. There is companion bench seating forward of the helm console and along the port side. Each provide storage, 12cf. AC/DC freezer cold storage inside the port bench. There is a removable enclosure of Strata-glass on the fly bridge. There is also a small DC chiller box at the helm for drinks.
